Two killed in landslide on Jammu-Srinagar Highway in Ramban
Two died many rescued from different landslides locations across district Ramban

RAMBAN, Feb 8: Two people were whereas many rescued from different landslides areas in between Ramban-Banihal road stretch after heavy snow and rainfall across district Ramban.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjit Lakra of Alipur West Bengal and Pramod Mankotia of Himachal Pardesh and dead bodies were shifted to District Hospital Ramban.
Body of Sanjit was recovered from near the landslide at Battery Chasma and body of Pramod was recovered from Marog in Ramban.
After getting information police and civil QRT alongwith team of SDRF rushed on spot and started rescue operation late last time and rescued 15 persons safely. Due to bad weather and heavy landslides, shooting stones forced to stop the rescue operation in between.
Later in early morning the rescue teams again started the rescue operation and recovered two dead bodies besides 6 persons out of which one received injuries. It is pertinent to mention here that the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained closed for the third consecutive day at different parts due to landslides and shooting stones in between Ramban-Banihal road stretch besides heavy snowfall at Jawahar Tunnel.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Anita Sharma said that after receiving inputs our rescue teams tried to reach at spot but due to bad weather condition and poor visibility rescue teams were not successful to search out all the trapped persons under landslides.
She further said that after improving visibility in early morning our teams rescued 6 persons from different locations besides recovered two dead bodies.
"The reason death of will be cleared after verification" she added.
