But Mehbooba Mufti, problem is religious and India can't afford another communal partition
Kashmir, Kashmir, Kashmir
2/8/2019 11:25:47 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 8: Mehbooba Mufti, who became CM with the support of the BJP in 2016 and from whose government it withdrew support on June 19, has unleashed a no-holds-barred campaign against PM Narendra Modi. The decision of the BJP to withdraw support to her government had wounded Mehbooba Mufti and the wounded Mufti has been seeking to arouse communal passions in the Valley and strike a chord with her estranged supporters and voters in Kashmir by trying to tell them that she is their true champion and she represents those in Kashmir who wanted independence or semi-independence or self-rule from India or those who love to join Pakistan.
For her, PM Modi and the BJP are the real villain as they have abandoned the Vajpayee line and refused to talk to Pakistan to resolve the so-called Kashmir issue. The fact of the matter is that she and others of her ilk are not happy with the status quo; they want something more than what they got in October 1947. They got separate status on the score of religion.
PM Narendra Modi on February 3 didn't talk of Vajpayee's Insaniyat and Jamuhriyat doctrine in Srinagar. He only talked against those waging war on India and this rattled Mehbooba and many like her in the Valley.
Mehbooba Mufti, like Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Saif-ud-Din Soz, to mention only a few, wants PM Modi to talk to Pakistan and Hurriyat operatives, saying they are the real factors and stakeholders but not revealing the truth that Pakistan and its Kashmir-based Hurriyat agents want another communal partition of India through separation of J&K on purely religious lines.
India just can't afford another communal partition; it has already suffered three: in 1947, when Pakistan was formed out of India; in 1948, when Nehru allowed Pakistan to retain the illegally-occupied territories of Jammu province and Ladakh region; and in 1990, when the votaries of 2-nation with the help of the then PM VP Singh and Home Minister Mufti Sayeed rid the Kashmir Valley of all Hindus, all Dogras and all Punjabis.
Mehbooba Mufti needs to understand that she and Hurriyat do not represent the state of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. They represent only a section of society that inhabits 11 per cent of the area outside Jammu and Ladakh. They just can't ignore Jammu and Ladakh, the state's two largest regions. To ignore them would be to provoke political explosions in these two regions and the PM knows all this. It's a matter of great satisfaction that the PM has consistently stuck to his stand: Terror and talks can't go hand-in-hand.
