Yasin Malik leader targets PDP to 'favor NC, others'
2/8/2019 11:27:29 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 8: Even as the Peoples Democratic Party has announced that former employee union leader Qayoom Wani will be their candidate for the north Kashmir Parliament seat in the upcoming elections, former-militant turned separatist leader Mohammad Yasin Malik has launched a direct attack on the PDP candidate hinting at his support for National Conference.
Malik has yet again started showing his veiled support towards the National Conference and other rivals of the PDP.
Taking a dig at the former "employees' leaders including Khurshid Aalam and Qayoom Wani in particular, both of whom are in PDP, Malik said they "betrayed the national cause and interests of Kashmiri people."
"Leadership of government employees and trade unions have played a shameful role from 90's and betrayed the national cause of Kashmiris. In 90s, Ishtiyaq Qadri was leading employees and delivering fiery speeches in favor of militants but soon he landed into dirty politics and betrayed this nation. He was succeeded by Khurshid Aalam and Muntazir Mohi-ud-din who kept going on till 2014.."
"After these two, Abdul Qayoom Wani assumed the charge of leadership but he too treading path of his predecessors repeated the same story of betrayal and treachery recently," Malik said.
The PDP has long been accusing Yasin Malik of being a National Conference supporter. "He only speaks against PDP in particular because JKLF enjoyed patronage of NC since the times when Dr Farooq Abdullah was friend of the JKLF founder," said a PDP leader.
He said during the government led by Mehbooba Mufti she had been openly accusing Yasin Malik of being NC supporter who would try to destabilize her. "His statement against our leaders in particular has only shown that NC is unnerved by our north Kashmir candidate and now he (Malik) is out to play his role as a NC supporter," the PDP leader camping here in Jammu told Early Times.
He said the PDP would respond to Malik at a public event in Srinagar. "He (Malik) is playing secret electoral politics and we will respond to it," the PDP leader said.
