Advancement, research has overpowered Cancer: Dr Vaid

Jammu, Feb 9: With an aim to serve people of his land, noted Oncologist Dr Ashok Vaid, son of the soil, today conducted free consultation here at Shakti Nagar.
The consultation was conducted at Thakur Dwara, Shakti Nagar at the residence of Pawan Shastri, president, Jammu Yatri Bhawan. Several dozen patients got consulted by Dr Vaid. Taking to media persons after the camp, Dr Vaid referring recent data expressed concern over increasing number of patients suffering with deadly disease. "Every year in India, 17 lacs new cases of Caner diagnose, it is also believed that the actual number of cancer patients are more than the data we have", he said and added that everybody who is suffering with Cancer is not registered.
He said that it (Cancer) has become a common disease because of awareness access of advance treatment. "It is a myth that the Cancer has no treatment, it is an old statement of 1970-80 even 90 when there was not advancement, in last 20-30 years' research has made us empowered to tackle it", he said and added the research cure and control rate has increased.
"Cancer need multi modality treatment (MMT), patients need advanced Radiology, Pathology. In many cases especially organ specific cases surgery remain first treatment. Now we have modern machines in our state, earlier for this treatment we have to go outside the state", he said.
He further said new graduate and post graduate have joined here, and they contributing their best. "I'm also doing free of cost service of society here for past 10 years in form of camp, apart from treatment we also educate the public", he said. He further said that he has involved local oncologist in this process to serve people. "We are creating bridge between the people who suffering with Cancer, and the local oncologists", he added.
