Awareness programme on Swachhta Abhiyan organized

JAMMU, Feb 10: As part of the ongoing extensive publicity awareness campaign on Swachh Bharat Mission under the theme "Shramdan Sunday" or "Shramdan Ravivar" which was kick started by Bureau of Outreach and Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India, Jammu and Kashmir Region.
In this connection, Field Outreach Bureau, Kathua of Bureau of Outreach and Communication, Ministry of Information Broadcasting, Govt. of India in close coordination and cooperation with Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Jammu, Municipal Committee, Bari Brahamana and other sister media organizations of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting viz: Doordarshan News, All India Radio and Song and Drama Wing, organized two awareness programmes cum cleanliness drives under the theme Swachh Bharat Mission "Shramdan Sunday" in Doolian (Ward No. 9) and Bassi Kalan (Ward No. 7) of Bari Brahamana Municipality.
The Swachh Bharat Mission is a historical initiative and a much publicized and well known flagship programme of NDA Government aimed at to fulfill the dreams of the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi of Clean and Green India by 2nd October 2019 i.e. 150th Birth Anniversary of the father of nation.
The programmes were organized in order to sanitize and mobilize the residents of the Municipal Committees about various aspects and provision of Swachhta Abhiyan and to make them aware and educated that how to manage and dispose off their household waste and to convert it into useful bio products and organic fertilizers scientifically.
On the occasion, a general cleanliness drive was conducted in both the wards with active coordination of local residents, staff members and officers of Municipal Committee and elected Municipal Counselors and chairman of Bari Brahamana Municipality during which the waste material of both the wards was collected and managed by using mobile waste bins. Field Outreach Bureau, Kathua requested the audience to make more use of Swachhta Mission and make their respective localities neat and clean. He also laid emphasis on the audience to adopt three "R" which are the key factors of Swachhta Mission that is Reducing, Recycling and Reusing Wastes/Garbage.
