Cong high command in fix over Azad's behaviour
2/10/2019 11:46:05 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 10: Secretive behavior of senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad with regard to recent developments following announcement of vital election committees for Jammu and Kashmir has put the Congress high command in a fix.
While on the one hand a big section of Congressmen in Jammu and Kashmir have virtually raised a banner of revolt seeking full control to Ghulam Nabi for the forthcoming elections in the State, the leader ( Azad) on the other hand is not willing to return to the State politics.
According to the sources in PCC, Ghulam Nabi Azad had already conveyed the party high command about his disinterest in the State politics and thereafter AICC president Rahul Gandhi approved the State election committees with G A Mir as Chairperson.
However, sources added, after the election committees were approved and announced, Mr Azad started expressing his displeasure over sidelining him and the resolution adopted by Congress leaders yesterday was also on his instruction. While Mr Azad is very clear to remain at the Centre, at the same time he also wants to control the party affairs in Jammu and Kashmir through remote control, sources explained.
By inciting a revolt like situation in J&K against the incumbent PCC president and dissociating himself from the State election committees the same time, sources said that Mr Azad is confusing the party high command, which is reportedly in a fix over the developments within State unit.
As the high command cannot afford more trouble within the party ahead of forthcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir, sources hint that Mr Azad is likely to be summoned by Rahul Gandhi for making his position clear with regard to either taking full control of J&K affairs or remain at Centre giving free hand to the PCC president.
