| Forest land usurped by land mafia | | Locals demand probe | | Rajesh Tandon

Poonch, Feb 11: A big scandal has been exposed in Qazimohra area of Poonch where a prime forest land was transferred under forged mutation in favour of a local citizen of Poonch on 12/11/2018 and later, the said citizen assigned duties of illegal disposal of land through another resident to earn money through illegal means with the help of land mafia. Locals of the area told Early Times that the said area was a forest land but revenue officials in connivance of land mafia transferred land in favour of a local citizen who is not legal owner of the land, and transferred the prime 27 kanals of forest land. Later, land mafia with the help of and buyer of land sold plots on high rates to many people in which many political functionaries are involved. According to a local Mohd Rafiq, he brought the matter into the notice of former Chief Minister in 2015 and also Commissioner/Secretary to government forest department, Chief Conservator of Forest, DFO Social forestry Poonch but the then DFO Social Forestry Poonch did not take keen interest in the said case due to reported involvement of few revenue officials and land mafia. Locals appealed to the governor Satya Pal Malik to order a probe into the matter and bring to book those officials of district administration who played a big fraud. |
