Chairman J&K Grameen Bank felicitated

Jammu, Feb 11: Chairman, J&K Grameen Bank felicitated for outstanding contribution towards rural development in State Credit Seminar 2019-20 organised by NABARD. During the occasion of State Credit Seminar 2019-20 held today at Hotel Radisson, Jammu; K.K. Sharma (Advisor to Governor, J&K), felicitated Janak Raj Angural Chairman, J&K Grameen Bank with an award for outstanding contribution towards rural development in the state in presence of K.K. Balachandran (CGM, NABARD), Suresh Chand (CGM, NABARD), Thomas Matthews (ED, RBI), Parvez Ahmed (Chairman & CEO J&K BANK), Asgar Hassan Samoon, (Principal Secretary, Government Department of Animal and Sheep Husbandry). Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the efforts of the Bank for spreading financial literacy and awareness at nook and corner of the State. He cited that the Bank has formed 500 JLGs, conducted 174 Financial Literacy programmes in FY 2017-18 and opened 2854 NRLM accounts. CGM, NABARD, K.K. Balachandran and Suresh Chand appreciated the Bank's performance in Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion activities throughout the state. They also appreciated the Bank's performance in Social security schemes and especially the 100 percent claim settlement rate maintained by the Bank under PMSBY and PMJJBY schemes. Parvez Ahmed (Chairman, J&K Bank) extended greetings to J&K Grameen Bank for being honoured for a commendable performance in Financial Inclusion activities. As a sponsor bank, he further impressed upon the Bank representatives to target 100 percent saturation of social security schemes in all the rural areas of the state.
