Former MP dismayed over controversy on creation of Ladakh division | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 14: Former Member Parliament and legislator Sheikh Abdul Rehman while reacting to the recent row over the capital of Divisional Office in Ladakh region, expressed his dismay and surprise over the undesired controversy being created by certain forces to grind their own axe in the meddle. According to press release, Rehman said that it was a long pending demand of the entire Ladakh region which has now been met under President's rule, while urging the people of both Leh and Kargil regions to maintain peace and have long vision restraint. He suggested people of both Leh & Kargil as also the Governor to make a consensus as to why Khalsi, a sub-divisional HQ which is 100 kilometers down to Leh & 150Kms up on Kargil-Leh highway, should not be made as Divisional HQ. It will be convenient to both the people of District Leh and Kargil in the process a new township shall emerge which will surely give a new flip to the tourism sector in the region on one hand and solely the undesired problem on the other hand. This will benefit both the public and as well as administration also, he said. Terming sanction of Divisional status to Ladakh as historical step, Rehman said it should never become a bone of contention for Leh & Kargil rather it should be seen as source new hopes of development in all sectors of life, he said. |
