Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Feb 21: Despite tall claims of the government that all the teachers will get regular monthly salaries, thousands of teachers are at the verge of starvation as the government has failed to release their salaries for last over five months.
Sources while talking to Early Times said that the concerned authorities of education department have made the lives of thousands of Teachers hell by their indifference.
Thousands of Regular Rehbar-e Taleem Teachers (RReTs) have not been provided salaries from past several months, and with the result their families are facing starvation, said sources.
Bashir Ahmad, RReT from Budgam district said that, there are thousands of RReTs like me who were regularized on basis of state ReT scheme, but so for our salary was not delinked with the SSA scheme with the result government is delaying our salaries.
The government has said in a SAC meeting that all the teachers will get a regular monthly salary on time consequent to the assimilation of various cadres of teachers into one regular teaching cadre.
Mumtaz Ahmad from Kupwara district called ET and said that last time the decision was taken to resolve the salary and other related issues of all teachers in the school education department, including those who come under the centrally sponsored schemes Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), now called Samagra Shiksha.
Another teacher from Baramulla said that, it is very unfortunate that a nation builder is without salary from past five months, and government is least bothered about the daily sufferings of teaching community.
"The teaching community continues to suffer due to the indifferent attitude of the government, even after repeated assurances from the government that all the issues will be resolved in time, but to no avail", said sources.
