Waqf Board Employees seeks replacement of CEO
2/21/2019 10:46:36 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 21: A section of officials engaged in J&K Muslim Waqf Board has sought replacement of incumbent Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with one who follows Sufism rather than other school of thoughts.
Some of the officials, seeking not to be named informed Early Times that the incumbent CEO even skips many important congregations (Urs) of various shrines, due to this difference.
"He (CEO) is a basic member of Jamaat e Islami, and he in past had skipped Urs organised in some shrines belong to Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Specified Wakfs and Specified properties", he said and added in similar case instead of being personally present on the occasion of Eid Milad-Un-Nabi (PBUH) at Hazratbal Shrine, he sent the key of said shrine through his clerk, it was also disrespect of Advisor, Khurshid Ganai, who Chairman of the Board.
"He was duty bound, being administrative head of this religious institution to attend the function, but he preferred to stay at home", he said and urged Governor's administration to replace him, with a candidate of Sufi thought.
"Unfortunately, the stakeholders have only one option i.e. media to highlight deplorable condition of the Board, like any, PSU the Board is getting shrunken with each passing day, it is due to media we could make public various scandals and laziness of the administration to utilise the existing resources of the Board", they said.
They said that despite being autonomous body, the Board remained victim of political and bureaucratic interference. "Mostly, the higher positions in the Board are filled on deputation basis, and the officers, who come on deputation, do not bother to improve the system rather than harassing Board's lower rung officer by one or another way", they said.
These officials also appealed the Chief Secretary, B. V. R. Subrahmanyam to replace the CEO prior to announcement of Lok Sabha Poll, so that the Board could also be benefitted during Governor's rule.
