Police administration attempts to fix non- performers
Reshuffle of Dy SPs
2/21/2019 11:15:36 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 21: Large scale transfers and postings of Dy SPs undertaken by the Police Headquarters has been an attempt to revamp the police administration at the ground level and marginalize the non-performers who were found short of professional expectations.
Sources in the department divulged that an exercise was conducted to identify the non- performers especially in the wake of recent incidents of violence and communal tension in Jammu following Pulwama terror strike. "Tansfers and postings is a regular process in the police organization. In the recent reshuffle, a screening committee carried out a performance audit of the operational officers of the rank of Dy SPs and recommended their further transfers and postings" said a senior officer.
Of the sixty seven Dy SPs who were reshuffled the previous day, SDPO city north was packed up for his inability to handle the situation that arose in the aftermath of Pulwama terror strike and posted him at a non- operational position. Sources said that the police and civil administration were displeased by the manner in which the said Dy SP handled the situation. "His incapability and laid back approach led to a situation that could have been avoided or atleast controlled effectively" said a senior officer of the department. "As an officer on ground, the SDPO should have had the foresight to preempt the situation and should have taken precautionary measures, but he was found pathetically incapable" he added.
Meanwhile sources disclosed that the said officer had been using the influence and connections of his family to get important postings. "Despite being exposed for his professional incompetence, he has got a lucrative non- operational posting due to the connections of his family" they added.
