KVK organizes Rabi Krishi Mela, live webcast of launch of PMKSN

kathua, Feb 24, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kathua under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu today organized Rabi Kisan Sammelan in which more than 250 farmers participated. Dr. R.K. Arora, Associate Director Extension (KVKs), SKUAST-Jammu and Dr. Shubhra Sharma, KAS, Additional District Development Commissioner inaugurated the Rabi Kisan Mela in the presence of Arun Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua, Chander Mohan, Chief Horticulture Officer, Kathua and officers of other line departments.
The Rabi Krishi mela was organized on the eve of launch of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, which was live webcasted at KVK and witnessed by participating farmers and officers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. R.K. Arora read the major talking points on new initiatives of Government, including PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, National Gokul Mssion and inclusion of livestock and fisheries under Kisan Credit Card scheme. Inaugurating the Rabi Kisan Mela, Dr. Arora deliberated upon the efforts made by KVK for the welfare of farmers in the district. He stressed upon the fact that University is committed to bringing positive change in the lives of farmers through enhancement of their incomes. Dr. Shubhra Sharma, ADDC and Nodal officer of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Kathua briefed about the scheme and its benefits for farming community.
The Rabi Kisan Mela also included an exhibition in which district departments and private agencies showcased technologies related to seed, chemicals, agricultural implements, horticulture and animal husbandry etc. The farmers of the district also put stalls exhibiting various agricultural products grown at their farms. On the eve of Rabi Mela, awards were also distributed to progressive farmers and farm women.
Dr. Vishal Mahajan carried out the proceedings of the programme and presented vote of thanks. Among others, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Bharat Bhushan and Sh. Sahil contributed towards successful organization of the programme.
