Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 26: A team of developers at the Center for Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CRIE) at the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) claim to have developed the world's most advanced message sharing application. The team led by Prof. Ankur Gupta Director, MIET and comprising faculty mentor Rishi Gupta, students Arun Sharma and Abhishek Sharma from Computer Science department developed the ASMA (Advanced Secure Messaging Application) which was recently released for testing in a pilot group of 200 users. Arun Sharma, 8th semester student of Computer Science and Engineering was the lead developer for the project. ASMA claims to have advanced security and content management features which are not available in Whatsapp, Hike, Telegram and other popular message sharing applications. A patent encompassing the invention has already been filed at the Indian Patents Office. ASMA offers advanced security features such as face recognition or fingerprint verification of the recipient to ensure that message is delivered only to the intended recipient. It further provides fine-grained content access policy by allowing user to control the manner in which the message is consumed and shared further by the recipient. For instance, a user can specify whether a message can be shared further or not by the recipient and if it can be shared then the approved users for message forwarding can be specified, including the number of times a message can be shared. The sent message can also be configured to auto-destruct after the specified time.
