Govt must fulfil its commitments with Safai Karamcharis: Harsh
3/13/2019 10:32:11 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 13: Supporting the genuine issues raised by Safai Karamcharis from time to time and agreed to by the govt and urban local bodies, Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and Former Minister regretted the unjustified and inordinate delay in honouring such commitments.
A delegation of Safai Karamcharis called Harsh Dev Singh and he assured all out help to the members. He said that Safai Karamcharis were a significant component of our sanitation schemes and needed to be given due space in the Health and Hygiene system by addressing their concerns on priority.
Calling upon the Govt to ensure early implementation of the decisions taken by the govt and conveyed to the Union leaders vide order No. DDLBJ/2019/23495 dated 23-01-2019, he regretted the apathy shown by the govt in initiating action upon the issues settled. He said that despite agreeing to release the enhanced wages within 15 days as per the said agreement of 23-01-2019, the needful had not been done leading to huge resentment amongst the Safai Karamcharis. He further castigated the delay in provision of uniforms to Safai Karamcharis despite specific orders having been issued to various CEOs and Eos of various Municipal bodies across the state. Likewise, he regretted the inordinate delay in disposal of pending SRO-43 cases of NOKs of Safai Karamcharis inspite of the govts commitment to dispose them on fast track basis.
He flayed the govt apathy in issuing regularization orders of a vast majority of eligible Safai Karamcharis who fulfilled the requisite criteria under prescribed norms giving a reason to the marginalized class to take to agitational course. He further sought early release of the 7th Pay Commission arrears besides additional 2½ day salary in terms of the agreement signed with the representatives of the Union. He assured the delegation that NPP fully supported the cause of the aggrieved Safai Mazdoor Sangh and would stand by them in their crusade for Justice.
