Early Times Report

Anantnag, Mar 14: In violation of Land Revenue Act and Ribbon Development Act, influential people in connivance with Revenue department officials have started raising huge commercial complexes on National Highway in South Kashmir's Bijbehara town.
According to reports, structures are being raised during night hours on the directions of revenue department officials.
At Pazalpora Bijbehara, owner of a private Para-medical institute has started construction of another building without seeking permission from any competent authority. The construction of building on existing highway-National Highway 1A-is also apparently violating the Ribbon Development Authority but the authorities are unmoved.
At the same spot on the highway, another influential businessman has completed the construction of multi-storied building as the revenue authorities watched helplessly.
In Pazalpora, construction of shopping complexes at multiple spots is taking place. Municipal Committee Bijbehara maintains that their jurisdiction is up to Forest Check-Post Bijbehara and is revenue department is responsible to take action against the violators. Sources told Early Times that violators are allegedly paying huge bribe to revenue department officials before starting construction activity. "Beat the drums and do whatever you want to do but revenue department will never take any action against violators because they are being paid," they claimed. Assistant Commissioner Revenue Anantnag, when contacted, assured that he will take up the matter with Tehsildar Bijbehara. "I have conveyed to Tehsildar Bijbehara," he told ET over phone.
However, no action by any revenue officer was initiated against the violators neither was construction activity stopped, ET learnt on Thursday evening.
The matter was also taken up with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan and he assured action.
