Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Mar 15: National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah today highlighted the need of forging unity across the state to trounce the 'divisive' agenda of the BJP and its ilk saying that the forthcoming general elections are significant as it will characterize the recourse of the state for next half a decade.
"It is high time for the people of all the regions across the state to put up a strong front against the divisive agenda of the RSS -BJP in the state. I am sure that the people of state will give befitting reply to the RSS and its ilk. If the people don't forge unity at this time, the posterity will never forgive us. It is for us to bequeath our coming generations a peaceful future. The forthcoming general elections afford the people an opportunity to secure themselves a peaceful future shorn of communal strife," said Abdullah while addressing different delegations here.
The NC said that these 'forces' directly and indirectly will try to vitiate the atmosphere but we as a peace loving society should not allow ourselves get swayed by their malicious propaganda. He said in the forthcoming elections people of the state will give befitting reply to such 'forces' as they are contriving to create wedge between various regions of the state.
Meanwhile a delegation of traders whose stalls had suffered from conflagration in an incident fire in Hyderabad called upon Abdullah at party head quarters and apprised him about the failure of the Telengana Government to recompense their losses.
The NC President made a phone call to the Chief Minister of Telengana and home minister of Telengana and urged them to provide compensation to the affected traders. Party president also dispatched a letter to the home minister of Telengana asking him to provide succor to the affected traders.
In the meantime, Abdullah visited party block president of Bijbehara Muhammad Ismail Wani at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, where he was admitted the other day after being shot at by some unknown gunmen. He while interacting with the kith and kin of the injured party functionary said, "I am here to salute the zeal of our party functionary with which he has been working for the emancipation of masses. I pray for his fast recuperation and good health. I hope he will rise again to take forward the mission of serving people," adding, "such dastardly acts would not deter us from serving people."
The NC President also called for time bound inquiry into the attack. "The perpetrators behind the attack should be brought to justice. It is the prime duty of the incumbent governor administration to ensure a safe environment for the political workers to carry forward their work," adding, " The incumbent governor administration has miserably failed to ensure safety and security of the political workers."
