Early Times Report
KUPWARA, Mar 17: PDP chief and former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today extolled her party workers as "Real Mujahideen."
Addressing a large gathering in Kupwara, Mehbooba said even though a PDP worker "may not have a gun or stone in his hands, they are the Real Mujahid."
"Your contribution to the society is far greater than the contribution of workers of other parties that have been around for decades," she said.
She said the PDP was only party which gave "relief to Kashmiris from POTA, task force, and set up universities and colleges at various places in J&K."
The party also realized the "dream of opening Muzaffarabad- Srinagar route," she said.
She said the PDP believed in acting as "a bridge between India and Pakistan so that every Kashmiri will have excess to anywhere he wants to go whether it is Afghanistan, China, Islamabad or Iran."
She said that her father Mufti Sayeed’s tenure as Chief Minister was a success due to opening of traditional routes linking Kashmir to rest of the world.
While criticizing the other political parties, she said that people gave almost 50-60 seats to NC in the previous elections, and instead of that, PDP only got 25 seats in Kashmir, while as BJP got 25 seats in Jammu.
Mehbooba said that even though she had revoked 12000 FIRs against the youth to which BJP was opposed.
"During my tenure, many times I asked Narendra Modi to hold talks with Pakistan, and there is no other option except the dialogue with the separatists, I spoke to center to appoint the interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma as Chief Secretary, and hold talks with the separatists, but that didn't work", said PDP leader.
While concluding her address, former chief minister announced Qayoom Wani as the party's parliamentary candidate from North Kashmir.
