Mehbooba fishing in troubled waters
Question's Haryana court's verdict, provides handle to Pak

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 21: Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti seems to have developed a habit of "fishing in troubled waters." Soon after a special court in Haryana acquitted Swami Aseemanand and three others in the Samjhauta train blast case, Mehbooba was first one to react. "Despite damning evidence, the accused, including a former RSS member, have been acquitted. God forbid, had they been Kashmiris/Muslims, they would be pronounced guilty and imprisoned without even a fair trial. Why such double standards and leniency towards saffron terror?" Mehbooba wrote on twitter. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Since the day Mehbooba has lost power she is questioning every move being made by the Centre and even the courts. Someone needs to tell Mehbooba that Swami Aseemanand and three others were facing trial since 2007. They have been acquitted due to lack of evidence against them." He said that by issuing such statements Mehbooba is pitting Kashmiris against rest of the country. "She is playing a communal card to divert attention of people from her failures. Mehbooba is playing to the galleries to tell the separatists and people sitting across the Line of Control that she is propagating their cause," the analyst added.
He said, "Since the day Jamaat-e-Islami has been banned in Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba has been trying to compare nationalist RSS with the anti-national Jamaat, which has been preaching secessionism and sedition under the garb of socio-religious activities. Her words that judiciary and the government are soft towards saffron terror are an ample proof of the fact that she wants to polarize Jammu and Kashmir on religious lines so that her party could get benefitted."
A Kashmir watcher said, "Mehbooba seems to have forgotten that her party ruled J&K for more than three years due to the ashirward of RSS. Her close aides used to visit RSS headquarters in Nagpur to participate in the events which were organised by the party. At that point of time she did not find any flaws with RSS and BJP but after being dumped she is propagating hate against both these parties. This is height of hypocrisy."
A politician said, "Mehbooba needs to show some respect towards judiciary and stop acting like the spokesperson of Pakistan. By questioning Haryana court's verdict, Mehbooba has provided handle to Pakistan and the people sitting there would use Mehbooba's statement to target Indian judiciary. It's unfortunate that such statements are coming from a person, who has held the highest office in the state."
