Early Times Report
KATHUA, Mar 24: The United School Teachers Association (USTA) has urged the authorities to concede to their demands otherwise the association will be compelled to hold a strong protest near Press Club of Jammu on March 29.
The ultimatum to stage a protest was announced during a general body meeting of J&K United School Teacher's Association (USTA) held here today at SK Farms under the presidium of Hari Singh, Rajeev Kumar, Kanta Devi and Roop Chand.
While speaking on the occasion provincial president Hari Singh strongly condemned the central and state government's policies of commercialization and privatization of education which have destroyed the basic foundation of public school education system.
The authorities at the helm of affairs are not paying any heed towards the needs of the government schools as well as the demands of the teaching community. Even wages and other dues have not been paid for months or even more than a year due to which a large section of teachers are facing financial constraints. Thousands of teachers remain engaged in non-academic duties such lackadaisical approach of govt. has ruined the public education system.
The meeting in one voice appeals the Governor Administration to release 6-7 months pending salary of Head teachers working under SSA now SAMAGRA along with arrears of 7th pay commission at an earliest , speed up the process of conversion of RRET's in teacher grade-II and release their pending wages with 7th Pay Commission, place all under graduate RReT's in grade-II, debar teachers from non-academic duties, start pre-primary classes in all schools having primary classes by providing required infrastructure, release senior teacher grade in favor of trained under graduate teachers and remove anomalies in their time bound promotion cases, fill all vacant posts in education department.
