Ramban, Mar 24: Carrying forward their drive to make a drug free society, Ramban Police today achieved a major success by arresting a notorious drug supplier and recovering *ten kilograms of Charas* from his possession.
Giving details of the achievement, a Police spokesperson said, "As you know, we have initiated a war against the menace of drugs in our area whereby all the field officers have taken a pledge to uproot this evil from the society. Today's achievement is a part of the same pledge". The spokesperson further told that it was a specific information and on the basis of that a Police team headed by Insp Vijay Kotwal, SHO Ramban laid a surprise naka on Mihar - Neera road and started checking every passerby. In between, one person, on seeing the Police party tried flee away. But the alert cops chased and overpowered him. On search of his baggage, huge quantity of Cannabis (Charas) got recovered which was measured to be 10 KGs of weight.
In this regard case FIR No 61 of 2019 has been registered at Police Station Ramban under relevant sections of law and investigation taken up. During preliminary investigation, the peddler has been identified as Mohd Shafi S/O Ghulam Qadir R/O Mandakbass, Khari distt Ramban. Further investigation into the case is in process.
The arrest and recovery has been made under the close supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Ramban Asgar Ali Malik , Addl SP Ramban Sh Sanjay Parihar and overall supervision of SSP Ramban Ms Anita Sharma.
