Out of 14, ten candidates filed nominations on last day of filing of nomination

BARAMULLA, Mar 25: Ten nomination papers were filed today on the last date of filling of nomination for the Baramulla-Banipora and Kupwara Lok Sabha constituencies that are going to polls in the first phase of Parliamentary elections in the country on April 11.
14 nomination papers have been filed till date and on March 26 (Tuesday) scrutiny of nomination papers will be done, sources informed early times.
Fourteen candidates have filed their nomination papers for 1-Baramulla Parliamentary constituency till Monday in which, seven are from Independent and one each from NC, PDP, PC, INC, BJP, AIP and JKNPP.
Among the national and regional parties, the candidates that have filed their nomination papers includes Raja Aijaz Ali as People's Conference, Abdul Quyoom Wani of People's Democratic Party (PDP), Mohammad Akbar Lone of National Conference (NC) Farooq Ahmad Mir of Indian National Congress (INC), Mohammad Maqbool War of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Engineer Abdul Rashid Sheikh of Awami Itihad Party (AIP), Jahangeer Ahmad Khan of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP)
While as there are 7 independent candidates that have filed their nominations for Lok Sabha elections include former MP and NC leader, Abdul Rasheed Shaheen, Sayed Najeeb Shah, Amir Suhail, Sayed Muzaffar Ali, Javiad Ahmad Qureshi, Abdul Majeed Bhat, and Mohammad Abbdullah Chakwal.
However sources also said that, the Returning Officer for Baramulla Parliamentary constituency, Dr G N Itoo today informed that ten nomination papers were filed on the last date of filling nominations.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on March 26 (Tuesday) at 10 am and the last day of withdrawing nomination is March 28, said sources.
