Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 26: At a time when J&K Tourism department spends lavishly on tourism promotion outside State and Country , the officials at the helm of affairs in this department have not bothered to update their official website from last more than a year as all the misleading and obsolete information is available in public domain bringing a disrepute to this department and state.
Details available with Early Times reveal that the official website of Tourism Department J&K Government www.jktourism.org still shows Tasaduq Mufti as J&K's Tourism Minister. The so called website also shows name of Sarmad Hafiz as Secretary Tourism. Mehmood Ahmad Shah who is presently Director Industries & Commerce Kashmir was transferred almost 9 months back from Tourism department. He was posted as Regional Director Land Records South Kashmir for 8 months as well , but his name is still there on the official website. Simitha Sethi who is posted as Administrator Associated hospitals Govt Medical College Jammu from last year continues to be the Director Tourism Jammu as per the official website .
In addition to it, names of around 4 Deputy Directors who were transferred more than 1 year back from Directorate of Tourism Kashmir continue to be there on the official website. For reference of readers the web-link http://jktourism.org/whos-who.html can be accessed for more details.
The officers like Riyaz Ahmad Beigh , Waseem Raja and Peerzada Zahoor who were posted in the Directorate of Tourism Kashmir more than a year back still continue to be Deputy Directors Tourism Kashmir as per the details available on official website www.jktourism.org/whos-who
"On one hand Toursim Department organizes tourism promotion events in Bankok , Mumbai , Chennai and Ahmedabad at the cost of taxpayers' money, but by not updating the official website the officials are infact misleading the tourists and tour operators across country. These officials get hefty salaries and in return they do nothing. I hope Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ganai, the incharge of Tourism department who is himself outside the state right now on a tourism promotion will take the officials to task" said Pawan Kumar a tour operator from Jammu.
As reported in past, majority of the official websites in J&K are not updated and all the misleading and obsolete information is available on these official mouthpieces of Government. The Directorate of Rural Development Kashmir , DC Budgam , DC Baramulla , Kupwara and many other Government websites have lot of obsolete information available and seem to have not been updated from last several months and years.
