Shrine Board, NDRF review preparedness at Bhawan, Katra

KATRA, Mar 28 : Various aspects of Disaster Management preparedness of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine were reviewed at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
The meeting reviewed in detail various components of the Disaster Management Plan of the Shrine and the measures being taken to further strengthen it continuously, particularly with a view to ensuring quick response from all concerned in the wake of any fire incident, earthquake, landslides or any other emergency situation.
The meeting held extensive de-briefing session vis-à-vis the Mock Exercise that was conducted by the NDRF team yesterday on the Yatra track near the Bhawan area in order to analyse and evaluate the level of preparedness to most effectively and promptly respond to any emergency situation. J&K Police, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Services, Members of the Disaster Management Task Force of the Shrine Board, Medical Units, Unit Heads and employees of the Board took part in it.
To further augment the Disaster Management preparedness, it was decided that the 7th Battalion of NDRF will conduct a comprehensive audit of the Disaster Management Stores set up by the Shrine Board at various locations on the track and in the Bhawan area so that, wherever required, these are further replenished and strengthened by adding latest gadgets and equipments. Further, an Annual Calendar of Training will be formulated whereunder the NDRF will impart advanced training to the Shrine Board staff, particularly Security and Enforcement Sahayaks most of whom are ex-Servicemen, in batches to keep them in state of readiness for effectively and promptly responding to any disaster situation. An Emergency Operation Centre will also be set up by the Shrine Board as part of its disaster preparedness.
Ravi Kumar, Commandant, 7th Bn. NDRF, appreciated the level of preparedness of the Shrine Board staff in responding to any emergencies and assured that the NDRF will provide the advanced training to the staff besides undertaking inventory audit of the Disaster Management Stores of the Board, to further augment these, wherever required.
It is pertinent to mention that as part of its continuing effort towards Disaster Management preparedness, the Shrine Board has been imparting training to its staff in various aspects of preparedness and management of disaster situations on continuous basis.
