Jammu, Apr 14: Even as the Modi wave is spreading far and wide, the arrogance of Dr Jitender Singh, MoS in the PMO and BJP candidate for Kathua-Udhampur-Doda, Parliamentary constituency is likely to cost him dearly in the Lok Sabha elections as a number of political activists are being discouraged by this self-centric politician to be part of the saffron brigade.
According to the sources in BJP, 11 Sarpanches and several prominent political activists of Hiranagar and adjoining areas, who were to join the party in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his really at Kathua on Sunday, changed their mind on the eleventh hour following discouraging response of Dr Jitender Singh.
These prominent political activists led by Sarpanch Vijay Targotra and others, who represent Rasana and adjoining areas, were earlier supporting Choudhary Lal Singh and his Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan and expressed their desire to join BJP in presence of PM Modi.
Even as the party high command and senior leadership of BJP was too interested to take these local influential into the party fold, sources said that Dr Jitendra Singh negated the initiative in this regard for the reasons best known to him.
Sources said that not only the general public but even cadre of the BJP is annoyed with self centric approach and superiority complex of Dr Jitender Singh, who is also responsible for not allowing the efforts of reconciliation with rebel Choudhary Lal Singh.
Even as Modi wave is swaying Jammu region, Dr Jitender Singh will himself be solely responsible if the party loses Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary seat, said a senior BJP leader on the condition of anonymity.
The party high command has also taken cognizance of this arrogant behaviour of Jitender Singh but a policy of wait and watch is being adopted as only four days are left for the polling on this seat, he added.
