Early Times Report

Poonch, Apr 17: MGNREGA labourers of Pathanateer Panchayat were up in arms against Block Development office of Mendhar for allegedly its involvement in corrupt practices and duping them of their dues worth lakhs sources said here today.
They alleged that in BDO's office Gram Rozgar Sewak Niyaz Ahmed and Technical Assistant Azad Ahmed have been duping MGNREGA labaourers of Pathanateer Panchayat for one reason or the other.
They said those who greased the palms of above said officials received their payments of the works but who could not bribe them have been left high and dry. Sources said that labourers protested several times in this regard and brought the matter before SDM also but due to lackadiasical approach of BDO nothing was done to release their pending bills for payments . Though the SDM shot a letter to BDO to look into the matter but BDO was reluctant to take any action. Social worker of Patahanateer Panchayat Sarwar Hussain Khan alleged that the discrimination was going on with the poor MGNREGA labourers under the nose of Assistant Commissioner Development Poonch but no action was being taken against the erring officials at BDO Mendhar.
He urged Director RDD Jammu to shift such employees from BDO’s office Mendhar who harass the gullible MGNREGA labourers for their personal benefits.
