| Udhampur police recover poppy straw, smugglers held | | |

Jammu, Apr 20: Udhampur police today recovered consignment of 51 kilogram of poppy straw and 08 grms of Heroine (Chitta) from narcotic smugglers at Jakhani Chowk, NHW Udhampur. Reports said that Police Party of PS Udhampur laid a naka at Jakhani Chowk, NHW Udhampur for checking of vehicles. During naka checking, police party stopped one Maruti car bearing registration No. HP 38-3940 which was subjected to thorough search. During search of said vehicle, 51 kg of poppy straw and 08 grms of chitta (Heroine) was recovered from said vehicle. The narcotic smugglers identified as Mehraj-ul-Din @Javid S/O Mohd. Ramza R/O Gandoh, Doda and Siraj-ul-Din S/O Mohd. Ramzan R/O Gandoh, Doda were arrested . The recovered 51kg of poppy straw and 8 grms of Heroine (chitta) seized. 01 associate accused fled away from the spot with the involved vehicle. Police team have been deployed to arrest him.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 162/19 U/S 8/15/21/22 NDPS stands registered in PS Udhampur. |
