Training programme on "Management Competencies" held at IIPA

Jammu, Apr 20: A one-day training programme on "Management Competencies" was organized by Indian Institute of Public Administration, J&K Regional Branch, Jammu. Dr. S S Bloeria, IAS (Retd), former Chief Secretary, Government of Jammu & Kashmir was the Chief Guest during the valedictory function. Dr. Bloeria in his address said that effectiveness of any organization depends upon the human capital and how effectively the leader is able to manage the people. According to him, competence coupled with compassion that makes a leader distinct.
He emphasized that the officers should be truthful to the profession which will ultimately help them to build professional credibility. Dr. Ashok Bhan, IGP (Retd.), Former DGP, JK Police and Patron, IIPA in his address talked about citizen centric decision making. He said that public servants should take timely decisions which should always be in the interest of public. He called upon the participants to be the change leaders and also build competence to leverage technology to provide citizen centric service.
Earlier during the day, Prof. Alka Sharma, Director, The Business School, University of Jammu in her key note address talked about the role of positive attitude in the success of individuals and organizations. She emphasized on work-life balance and its role in professional and personal success. Sh. Vikrant Kuthiala, Honorary Treasurer, IIPA while introducing the theme of the training programme laid emphasis on continuous self development, flexibility, patience and team building in critical to professional success.
During the day, Dr. Neelika Arora, Assistant Professor, Department of HRM & OB, Central University of Jammu spoke on the need and relevance of "Effective Interpersonal Communication" at workplace. She deliberated on the effects of having a good communication skills and suggested measures to improve it. Dr. Komal Nagar, Assistant Professor, The Business School in her session spoke on on "Lateral Thinking". Dr. Anil Gupta, Assistant Professor, SHTM, University of Jammu delivered a talk on "Service Orientation" and emphasized the need for building various competencies in building this orientation among public servants. Dr. Karan Nathwani, Assistant Professor, IIT, Jammu spoke on Management & Personality Development leads to Self Leadership.
The programme was attended by 68 officers from various state government departments including J&K Police, Forest Dept., Industries & Commerce, Irrigation & Flood Control, School Education, Rural Development Dept., CID, CAPD, Tourism, Commercial Taxes, SMVDSBs, MED, Stores Procurement.
