| J&K PEOPLE's MOVEMENT | | A RAY OF HOPE | | R.B.SURI
Having resigned from the top Indian Government services as an IAS officer in January this year, the former IAS officer Dr.Shah Faesal launched his party, J&K Peoples' Movement (JKPM) on March 17 at Srinagar and promised an "end to corrupt system and work towards a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir issue." He made the Abdullahs and the Muftis responsible for the present ugly situation prevailing in the Kashmir valley. On launching his organization. he quoted that "I have no magic wand to resolve the Kashmir issue. It's a long drawn struggle. The issue should be resolved peacefully and in a dignified way, as per the aspirations of people of J&K. I want to become a facilitator and a bridge to reduce the distance between Delhi and Islamabad [for talks]." With in a fortnight after having launched his party- Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement on March 17 in Srinagar,Dr.Shah Faesal visited Jammu and organized a public meeting at Ritz, Chhani Himmat on March 31 which was attended by the hundreds of leading people of Jammu region in which the young, smart and highly educated youth in large numbers participated. The successive State Governments of Abdullahas and Muftis have brought the state of Jammu and Kashmir to the present volcanic stage where there is total lawlessness and no peace at all. The people of the state are suffering a lot due to the ongoing militancy in the state. Certainly a ray of hope is generated in the minds of the people of the state with the launching of a political party- "Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement" by Dr.Shah Faesal to get rid of Abdullahs and Muftis. In a public meeting at Jammu on March31, while addressing the gathering of Intellectuals public figures and educated youth below thirties, Shah Faesal hitted out at PDP, BJP and NC and held them responsible for the present state of affairs in the state and at the same time he stressed for the need for reaching out in Kashmir, and stated that we have witnessed a double speak politics since ages where politicians say one thing in Kashmir and another thing in Jammu and that is the reason for the failure of mainstream politics.
Dr.Faesal was of the view that there is a need for reviving the bonds of brotherhood and interdependencies between the regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh on the basis of trade and business so that the divide between these regions can be abridged. He further emphasized for the need of active public participation at large for taking the message of JKPM so that the new vision can be implemented. This was an impressive show as the young youths who were conducting the event were quite talented as they joined Dr.Shah Faesal in this pious mission after having left their services and pledged to contribute along with them in this noble cause. Thousands of educated youth who see a ray of hope in Dr.Shah Faesal's endeavor and positive approach are coming openly in support of him for the success of the newly launched party by him. Releasing his "Vission Document" of his party to the print and electronic media for resolving the Kashmir prblem, Dr.Shah Faesal stated that the Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement will work for fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the state and make them "politically empowered, economically prosperous, socially emancipated, ethically evolved, culturally enlightened and environmentally conscious". In the vision document it has been mentioned that the party will leverage Jammu and Kashmir's location as a gateway to Central Asia as "a 'Look Up-North' center for the subcontinent". The party shall also work towards reviving the centrality of Jammu and Kashmir state to the ancient Silk Route civilisation so that Jammu and Kashmir can reemerge as a corridor of peace between various South Asian neighbours," Apart from protecting the special status given to the state and ensuring equal rights and opportunities and empowerment of marginalised communities, women and disadvantaged sections, the Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement shall seek to promote a culture of tolerance. The vision document also mentioned that the party will work towards the peaceful return of Kashmiri Pandits to their homeland. Faesal's exit from bureaucracy and entry into politics comes at the heels of the Lok Sabha elections. His party decided for not to enter into Lok Sabha elections fray this time but would certainly contesting the forth coming Assembly elections in the state. He is very much on the job of mobilizing the public opinion on this score.The scope of JKPM is very much bright because of the fact that the past governments in the state have created a hell in Jammu and Kashmir in which the poor people of the state are suffering badly without any fault of theirs and the massive destruction is going on due to ongoing militancy in the state. Up to this time more than 8000o persons and huge number of our soldiers have been killed after 1987. The people are totally fed up with the present awful bad scenario in the state. The height of total non sense presently prevailing in the state that no serious efforts have been made by the successive governments for defusing the Kashmir tangle till date resulting which the people of the state had to suffer much. There is no doubt that Muftis and Abdullahs are responsible for the present mess in the state and at the same time, BJP also cannot skip from the responsibility because of the fact as it sided with pro militant PDP always as being the Coalition partner in running the state after 2015 particularly.Its ministers in the Mehbooba's cabinet acted as the henchmen of PDP. They have added fuel to the fire, in fact, for bringing this sensitive state to the present volcanic stage. Convening of various meetings at New Delhi and Srinagar will not solve the ongoing unrest as the unemployed youth of the state of Jammu and Kashmir want their immediate employment as they are at present jobless since more than a decade or so resulting which they are feeling helpless. Need of the hour is that on priority basis the serious efforts are required to be made for creating the more and more jobs in the state to adjust them suitably immediately or alternatively ,they be given the unemployment allowance till their proper adjustments in the State Government or the Corporate. Pertinent to mention here that the unemployed educated youth of the state skilled and unskilled ranging from 70000 to 80000 are passing their days miserably. Actually those were the youth who worked day and night to oust the previous Coalition Government of National Conference and INC headed by Omar Abdullah which did nothing for them but instead added fuel to the fire. This is why they are feeling furious against the earlier Coalition Government led by Omar Abdullah. After Omar's ousting in the Assembly polls in 2014 they were having the high hopes from the Coalition Government of PDP and BJP headed by Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and after his death by Mehbooba Mufti. They gave the massive support to PDP in Kashmir region and BJP in Jammu region. During the election days they were given the various promises which include the providing of jobs to them or in the alternative granting of unemployment allowance to them. The PDP and BJP combine while remaining in power in the state more than four years did nothing for them.That was the high time to consider the grant of unemployment allowance to them but all in vain. A dire need is being felt at the moment to accommodate them suitably so that their energies are used for the welfare of the state thereby giving the signal to the others who have gone under the evil designs of the various militant outfits in the valley. By doing this act by the Governor's administration, the state would win the sympathies of unemployed youth. Since they are penny less and get themselves misled by the unwanted people in the society and too feel burden upon their parents. The situation demands for the fair treatment to them. But one thing is there which is very important that this issue should not be sidelined because the earlier coalition governments had dodged and ditched them and shown them the non serious approach resulting which they are feeling furious about them. Not only this, even the present Governor's administration is not giving any heed to this important issue. If required steps are initiated on this score, there may be a possibility of containing the present unrest in the state. Really, the people of the state of Jammu and Kashmir are indebted to the Almighty who has sent Dr.Shah Faesal - a top ranking IAS officer as - A Messiah for bringing the state out of the present turmoil. Dr.Shah Faesal is doing the well concerted efforts in establishing the JKPM's units at the District levels across the state speedily in order to give the befitting reply to Abdullahas and Muftis in the coming Assembly elections in the state this year. It seems that he may be in the constant touch with the Chief Minister of New Delhi Arvind Kejriwal (who too is the former IAS officer) who is running the Delhi administration successfully despite of the tough resistance from PM Modi's Central Government every now and then. Certanly, Dr. Shah Faesal would be able to keep away Abdullahas and Muftis from the state polity. He is getting the tremendous support from the people of the state in favour of his party as they see a ray of hope from JKPM which is fastly emerging as an alternative to them. |
