'Police register case against unidentified thieves, truck seized'

Jammu, Apr 22: 27 barrels of bitumen reportedly stolen from hot mix plant (HMP) belongs to GREF from Metka area of Kalakote sub division on the intervening night of 20-21 April.
According to sources the GREF official yesterday filed a complaint against unidentified thieves at Police Station Kalakote who stole 27 barrels of bitumen from a HMP established at Metka by the department.
"On 21st April at around 1:30 a.m. some people with a civil truck bearing number JK02AQ-1576 stole 27 barrels of bitumen from HMP Metka. And GREF officials on night duty apprehended the truck", copy of complaint forwarded to SHO Kalakote by GREF officials' read.
SHO Kalakote, Tahir Khan when contacted said that a FIR has been registered in this conections against un-identified thieves. "A case under section 409, 109 vide FIR number 32/2019 has been registered while investigation has begun", he added. The theft has taken political turn when some BJP leaders from Kalakote drag name of Chairman Municipal Committee, Vijay Suri in the case, the truck belongs to him.
However, Suri has claimed he himself took his truck to Police station to get registered case against the thieves. "Yes the truck belongs to me, but it does not mean that I was involved in this theft, mobile number of my driver is switch off since the incident took place", he said and added that he has learnt that a local contractor has hired the truck for his works.
"I have asked police taken stern action against those who were involved", he said and added that some BJP leaders trying to malign his image by levelling baseless allegations.
Meanwhile sources informed apart from local contactor some officials of GREF have hands in glove in black-marketing of government material including bitumen, diesel, cements and many other things as Metka GREF centre serves the ongoing Reasi-Rajouri national highway.
