Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 24: A former minister of the BJP seems to be still in power mode and refuses to accept the reality that he is neither a legislator nor a minister who can pass directions to the officials of various departments.
The former minister in BJP-PDP coalition from Jammu West has been sending repeated press releases about his visits to his constituency along with the staff of various government departments and passing directions to them.
On Wednesday, the former minister visited three wards and was accompanied by the corporators of the respective wards along with some officials of Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA), according to the press release sent to the media.
As per the press release, the former minister stated that directions have been passed to ERA officials to take up the restoration works as soon as possible in order to avoid public distress in the areas.
He also directed the ERA officials to take up pending restoration works in other wards of Jammu West as well. Some junior Executive Engineers of ERA also visited the area along with him, which raises serious questions.
"Even President, after demitting his office, cannot pass directions and neither even a legislator, despite being in office, can pass directions as he or she has no authority", a senior politician said, adding that only a minister could pass directions to the subordinate staff.
"Their lust for power could be gauged from the fact that despite demitting the office and ministership, they are still in power hangover. It amounts to undermining the authority of Governor", the politician said, adding that even the ERA officials, who have been accompanying the politician were also violating the rules and to remain in good books of politicians, have been involved in sycophancy.
Governor administration must take cognizance of the matter and initiate action against the former BJP minister as well as ERA officials who have been listening to his directions.
