Early Times Report

Poonch, Apr 25: Pathetic approach of Power Development department of Mendhar can be ganged from the fact that a 63 KV electric transformer which was supposed to be installed in Kasab Village of mendhar town 18 years ago is lying defunct on the road side for reasons best known to men at helms, gathering huge rust over it, sources said here today.
Sources said long back in 2001 an electric 63 Kv transformer was sanctioned for installation at village Kasab in Mendhar town or the area had power woes since long but the lackadaisical approach of the Power Development department failed to install such a huge capacity transpormer in the area for reasons best known to the department.
They instead lift the transformer worth lakhs on the r4oad side and for the last 18 years the transformer has gathered rust and has become dys functional putting a huge loss on state exchequer sources added.
I may be pertinent to said here that the transformer was sanctional by an ex Minister who has expired now for the people of Kasab village who had severe power woes then, but the political approach ruined not only the government property but increased the worries of the locals also a many fold. There are also four commented poles also lying there under the day for no purpose while the supple line wires were tied with trees in the area speaks volumes of the carelessness of the concerned department and its field staff who were supposed to protect the public property.
Locals of Kasab village alleged that they were receiving interrupted power supply with low voltage since years but nobody from the PDD could installed instead of let to become it a rolton rot.
A social activist of the area Ifraz Ahmed told Early Times that he appeals the concerned authorities to make the said transformer functional and install it where it was required to be installed to give an un interrupted power supply to the locals of Kasab village, he added.
