Early Times Report

SAROOR, Apr 25: All is not well with the schools in Drabshalla education zone. The schools have no buildings and staff, the locals said.
Govt Middle School (GMS) Mandar Saroor has over hundreds of students studying in eight different classes but there are only two rooms to accommodate them.
The school has acute shortage of teaching staff as well. There are only four teacher for 80 students.
While speaking to Early Times, locals argued that no mid-day meal is served to students since last year, moreover Swach Bharat Abhiyan seems to be a hollow slogan there as garbage is dumped in the vicinity of the school.
Concerned department, reports said, has not done anything despite government having released Rs 9 lakhs for repair of the building a few years ago.
Students said that the teachers mostly remain absent. "Without class rooms, students attend the classes in the open. Bathrooms are closed from many years without as there is no water system and we have to go outside in agriculture land," they said.
Locals demanded education department to build more rooms for the school and threatened agitation if the demand was not met.
Ironically the sarpanch threatened the scribes of dire consequences for entering the village without his permission.
No official of the department at the district level was available for comment.
