Govt to take action against relief deptt officials for fleecing migrants
4/25/2019 11:20:22 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 25: The Government has warned action against some relief organisation officials and officers who are fleecing the Kashmiri migrants while issuing ration slips to them.
Sources said that the matter has been taken up with Union Home Ministry by the migrant leadership in Delhi expressing their serious concern over harassment of the displaced people from Valley while issuing ration coupons to them.
Sources said though ration coupons are to be issued every year in April but majority of zonal offices have delayed issuance of ration coupons to deprive migrants of ration for the month of April so that same can be misappropriated in collision with ration dealers.
Sources said this has not been for first time but in previous years the ration coupon slips were delayed for months together to deprive migrants of timely ration.
Though this being a big scandal sources said Home Ministry has asked the State Government to take strict action and maintain a close vigil on the working of these officials.
Moreover strict instructions have been issued to State Relief Department to take action against touts and agents working on relief counters and Relief Organization who fleece the relief holders in league with officials.
The State Government has been asked to deal such persons under law so that nobody hampers smooth distribution of relief and ration.
