| Drug overdose claims several lives | | |
POONCH, May 1: The saintly city of Poonch is sort of under the influence of curse as the drugs menace has spread its tentacles here rapidly which has claimed several young lives due the overdose of the drugs. It is come to the notice that many of the youth have been found dead in mysterious circumstances due to drug overdose.
District administration and Police have tried much to control but the peddlers behind drugs supply are roaming freely as many cases of deaths have been reported so far. Social activists like Jugal Kishore, Sanjay Raina, Javed Reshi, Amit Gupta and others have said that this is really a serious matter of concern as the drug abuse is the root cause of majority of the crimes. They said that the youth must reject the idea of drugs and move towards the healthy lifestyle. They said that Police and civil society must focus their target to end this curse.
They also added that the agencies must be also remain active and identify the anti-social elements which are spreading the poison in the society and put them permanently behind the bars.
When contacted DIG and SSP Poonch ensured that the elements promoting the drugs circulation were handled with iron fists.
