JMC councilors call on DC Jammu, raise several public issues

JAMMU, May 1: A deputation of councillors who are members of Social Justice Standing Committee led by Chairman, Jeet Kumar Angral met Deputy Commissioner, Jammu regarding various problems being faced by the people within the limit of Jammu Municipal Corporation. The Deputy Commissioner, Jammu listened the deputation patiently and assured them to address the problems raised by the councillors.
A threadbare discussion was held on issuance of BPL ration cards with the active involvement of concerned councillors, issuance of income certificates for pension schemes such as old age pension, widow pension, handicapped pension, information regarding all welfare schemes of various state and center departments such as Social Welfare Deptt, JUDA, Housing and Urban Development Deptt, issue of excess billing of electricity and water especially in slums and people belonging to weaker section and installation of CCTV cameras at vulnerable points to check crimes, rapid cases of theft, use of drugs etc.
The Deputy Commissi-oner, Jammu assured to direct concerned departments to involve the councillors to solve the issue, particularly Tehsildars/ Patwaris to issue income certificate on priority basis.
Social Justice Committee members present in the meeting include Councillor Raj Rani, Councillor Tripta Devi, Councillor Rama, Councillor Ritu Choudhary, Councillor Sham Lal, Councillor Ajay Gupta, Councillor Kuldeep Singh and Councillor Subash Sharma.
