Early Times Report
Jammu, May 1: A deputation of Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh All Departments Clerical Staff Association (ADCSA) submitted a memorandum to Divisional Commissioner Jammu regarding working hours for government offices in Jammu Division. While submitting the memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, the Association.
Led by Babu Hussain Malik State President, Mohd Sultan Mir Chairman, Ravi Singh Bhau, Convener, Sukhbir Singh, Munish Sharma, Arun Kumar, Onikar Verma, Madam Ansuya Gupta, Ravi Kumar, Yash Pal, Brijesh Mehta, Sharief Zargar, Madan Lal, Rajinder Singh, J R Sagar, Avtar Krishan and Romesh Singh Bhau stated that as per past practice, the working hours in the Government Offices in the Jammu Division were changed i.e Summer Zone as 8.00 AM to 2.00 PM w.e.f 15 May to 30th September. It is surprising that during this summer no order for change of time is issued by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu as per the past practice till date which has created confusion for employees. Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh All Departments Clerical Staff Association further added that the practice had been started by the then Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir Maharaja Ranbir Singh in 1872 to escape from the extreme weather conditions of Jammu during summer and in Kashmir during winter and accordingly the practice of office timing had been continuous till date.
The association further appealed to Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Secretary GAD that keeping in view of the unique topography and weather condition in Jammu Division the office timing may kindly be fixed as per the past practice, as the female employees has to more suffer.
The association requested Divisional Commissioner Jammu that the office working hours be fixed for summer zone offices as 8.00 A.M to 2.00 P.M as per past practice so that employees community of Summer Zone may not suffer during coming hot days.
