'Local BJP leader's relatives get payment without works'
Labour Day: Genuine MGNREGA workers denied wages
5/1/2019 11:44:09 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 1: Under BJP's patronage at least four persons who did labour for tile works in 2016 under MGNREGA have reportedly been denied wages by concerned block development officer (BDO) on diktat of local leader, who recently has been elected as Panch from Goder Khalsa village of Bhamala Panchyat of Pouni block.
According to locals, BDO Pouni executed tile work from main road to Middle School Goder Khalsa in 2016, but labour for works has not been paid yet to workers. "A local leader, Suresh Kumar, an elected Panch, under the patronage of former Minister and MLA Reasi, Ajay Nanda got payment released in favour of his relatives", sources said.
They said that the work worth Rs 6.35lac was done during financial year 2016-17, but manipulating bills for the work, the Panch who claimed to be worker of BJP inserted job card of his relatives as labourer. Locals said he never visited the site during the said work. They added that the villagers are solely dependent on MGNREGA works.
"Subash Chander, Bishan Dass, Ved Prakash and Permanand are labourers, who worked there, but unfortunately, the Panch named other job-card holders as beneficiary of the work, and name of actual beneficiary were missing", they added.
BDO, Pouni, Om Parkash when contacted said that he was not aware about the issue. "I will seek a detailed report from field staff and an enquiry will also be done over the allegations", he added.
