Demonstration staged by Punjab National Bank employees

Jammu, May 2: A massive demonstration was staged at Punjab National Bank Circle Office Rail Head complex Jammu today by All India Punjab National Officers Association J&K circle jointly with All India Punjab National Bank Employees Federation today.
A large number of PNB employees gathered in front of Circle Office Jammu and voiced their concerns about the receding manpower in the bank by 30 to 40 percent, downgrading of the branches, pending various employees' welfare measures.
On the occasion the President Circle Secretary of AIPNBOA, General Secretary of AIPNBEF and others speakers demanded that their long pending demands be immediately addressed. AIPNBOA President Umakant Sharma that the Bank has taken few unilateral decisions which are harming the interests of employees in particular and are stumbling block to the development of the bank in general
The circle secretary Arun Gupta elaborated on no of issues in which the Bank has arbitrarily withdrawn facilities to the employees like facilities to the pregnant lady staff, the bank has stopped recruitment of fresh staff following the vacancies created by huge no of retiring employees, downgrading branch rankings of substantial no. of branches by the bank resulting in staff displacement to outside their circles.
The workman Gen. Secretary Davinder Kumar also addressed the gathering and said that given the present attitude of the top management, we shall be forced to initiate more agitation programs in the coming months. He told the agitating members that the conservative negative approach of the management not only doing harm to its employees but also the image of the bank is also suffering due to in house bickering.
The demonstration was marked by high pitched sloganeering against the bank management and culminated in a joint memorandum by both unions hand over to the circle head J&K.
