Sprawling Buds School dominates first day of Sport Climbing competition

JAMMU, May 3: Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Jammu dominated the first day of the 19th Jammu District Sport Climbing competition which started in its campus today. While Sania Sharma and Sunandini Bhagat of the host school won the Gold and Silver medals in the Girls category another two climbers of the school Nandini Dhar and Mansi Parihar clinched the first two positions in the Sub Junior Girls category. The bronze medals in these two categories were bagged by Kashish Sharma of St. Xavier Convent Sr. Sec. School, Barnai and Narmita Rajput of Shining Star Academy, Muthi.
In the Sub Jr. Boys category in which 67 climbers participated 9 climbers who topped the 40ft high climbing wall and other two also have entered the final round. Similarly in the Boys and Mini Boys categories which had a substantial participation of 40 and 107 climbers 9 climbers in the Boys category and 17 in the mini Boys category have entered the final round. In the Mini Girls category 9 climbers led by Ridhima Sharma of Shangrilla Public School performed well to enter the final round. Final rounds of all the categories along with competitions in the Men and Women categories shall be held tomorrow. Earlier, the championship in which over 300 climbers are participating was declared open by Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Chief Executive Officer, Surinsar Mansar Development Authority in the presence of Ram Khajuria, Secretary, Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, Yogeshwar Kumar, Vice President (J) Shawetica Khajuria, Jt. Secretary Mountaineering Association of J&K, Chairman Rahul Sharma and Director Arti Sharma of Sprawling Buds ICSE School and Sumit Khajuria, a senior mountaineer.
