SAMBA, May 3: Continuing its drive against the bovine smuggling in the area, District Police Samba has foiled bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 16 bovine animals at National Highway, Jakh in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.
Acting on reliable information received at P/S Vijaypur that bovine animals are being smuggled towards Srinagar, a Police team during vehicle checking Naka at NHW Jakh, Vijaypur intercepted a truck bearing Registration No JK02AK-6979 which was on its way from Kathua towards Kashmir. During checking of the vehicle 16 bovines were found tied mercilessly which were being transported illegally without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines without any permission was seized on spot. In this regard, a case FIR No. 68/2019 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act stands registered at P/S Vijaypur and investigation started.
