Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 3: President National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), Subash Shastri on Friday appealed to Governor's administration to modify previous Government's order regarding payment of arrears of 7th Pay Commission in favour of State pensioners. In the previous order, a condition has been imposed that only those pensioners, who are 80 years old or above, will receive arrears of 7th Pay Commission in one installment adding that this category of the pensioners have been paid these arrears in one go.
"Every pensioner's plight is same, as such pensioners should not be discriminated on the basis of age, sex or service rendered. At a certain age, pensioners belonging to any age group, have to face degenerative problems and as such cannot be categorized in different categories. Therefore, the arrears of 7th pay Commission should be paid to all pensioners below 80 years in one go without any delay," Shastri demanded while addressing a well attended NMC workers meet here. Lauding Governor Satya Pal Malik's humanitarian spirit, which was reflected was on various occasions through numerous administrative measures undertaken by his pro-people administration, Shastri urged for making necessary changes in previous Government's order besides releasing pending arrears in favour of pensioners in one installment. Shastri further stressed, "At this hour, when a momentum has been generated in development works and other sectors by initiatives undertaken by Governor's administration, elections to the State Assembly can be deferred for next two years.
