DIG Jammu examines security measures for ensuing Amarnath Yatra

JAMMU, May 4: In view of ensuing Amarnath Yatra and challenges on the border management, today a joint meeting of Police, Army, BSF, CRPF and CAPF was held under the chairmanship of Sujit Kumar, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range Hqrs Jammu in PCR Jammu.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the security measures required to be adopted during the ensuing Amarnath Yatra which is starting from July 1. Apart from this, the security on the international border and LoC was also discussed in detail. All the participants attended the meeting shared their valuable views on the subject matter. The important views like strengthening of Nakas from International Border/LoC and on NHWs right from Lakhanpur up to the jurisdiction of District Jammu, putting/placing of modern equipments/gadgets and augmentation of nafri at vulnerable places along the NHW. The views putforth by the officers were welcomed and it shall be implemented in toto.
The District SSsP of Jammu, Samba and Kathua have intimated that they have made contingency plan in their respective areas in case of any exigency. They were told to conduct mock drill in order to ensure desired results besides checking of their alertness. All the Districts SSsP were directed to identify places for langers for the yatra. The Army and the BSF officers presented in the meeting were told to conduct joint regular meetings with Police officers in their respective areas and exchange intelligence sharing in case of any important information about terrorists and terrorism.
