Early Times Report
Poonch, May 5: On the one hand schools in Mendhar sub division remain closed during cross border shelling and firing and when there were no border skirmishes the schools open once in a blue moon at the will of teachers giving a huge dent to the education of children whose career seems to go in jeopardy sources said here today.
They said during normal course teachers fail to make it a regular and upto date affair for students of Mendhar sub division who come after covering of miles of distance on foot but had to face an awkward position when they find that their such and such teacher has not come school to taught them.
People said that they have have lodged complaints a number of times before the concerned authorities but we failed to bring their kind attention towards the burning issue of our wards whose education has been randomly affected both due to border Skirmishes as well as lackadaisical approach of teaching community which also fail to maintain a decorum of the schools, they added.
While talking to Early Times some locals expressed their anguish against the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of the district who has been a mute spectator of the situation and takes no action against the tackling staff who were hell bent to play with the career of children by failing to keep open educational institutions regularly in sub division Mendhar as well as other areas of the district including Mandi, Surankote and Poonch.
A social activist Mushtaq Ahmed Jatt has urged the state administration as well as Director School Education Jammu to take some necessary steps to streamline the educational infrastructure in the district and ensure that children do not suffer any more. He said we have been posting our problems in social media also but no one is going to listen us, he further added.
