University of Jammu: Keep HOD in good humour, get labour free PhD
5/5/2019 10:35:03 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 5: Some Heads of Departments (HoDs) of Jammu University are in for maligning the A+ grade of the University. They keep the rules and regulations at bay while handling research scholars on the basis of their likes and dislikes.
Sources in the university informed some departments have taken lead to trash statutes of University with impunity while presentation of synopsis by scholars with selective blue eyed being pushed through the process of synopsis presentation without fulfilling the primary requirements like submission of updated status and plagiarism report through their designated supervisors.
Sources inside the University informed that strong nexus has emerged in a few Departments between Heads and other members of DRC under patronage of incumbent Vice Chancellor where favourite scholars are getting preference out of the way for approval of their synopsis.
They do not even mention the name of their Supervisor in the updated status for unknown reasons, which needs thorough probe, sources demanded.
Further sources divulged that there are Research Scholars, who are toiling hard day and night under the supervision of their guides to update status of synopsis and also fulfilling all the formalities required under rules as per directions of HOD concerned. However , such scholars are being harassed and the presentation of their synopsis is often put to inordinate delay on one pretext or the other being fully devoted and obedient scholars of their Supervisors.
Sources alleged that few scholars who have developed close proximity with the Heads of the Department are not even bothering to receive research guidance from their guide in as much as readymade synopsis are being thrown before their designated supervisors and insisted on them to put their signatures for further presentation of synopsis, sources told, adding further that such scholars are even bringing bad name for the whole campus saying to their supervisors that everything has been settled in advance with the HOD and DRC members as only signatures of concerned Supervisor will suffice without any research guidance.
Sources further added that few HODs allegedly pressurise the genuine research scholars to write against their supervisors in an attempt to hide their pitfalls and weaknesses which are being highlighted by their supervisors who wish to do their work of research guidance in accordance with the rules and regulations governing research work in varsity.
Sources demanded that Governor of the State, who is also Chancellor of the University of Jammu, should take cognizance of the mal-functioning of some HODs and DRC members' hell bent to spoil the academic atmosphere of research work just to please their favourite scholars for reasons best known to them.
