JU signs MOU with HAWS, Indian Army

Jammu, May 5: The University of Jammu today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) of the Indian Army at Army Training Command Headquarter (ARTRAC), Shimla. Prof Manoj Dhar, the Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu and Lieutenant General P.C. Thimayya, PVSM, VSM, the General Officer Commanding in Chief, Army Training Command, signed and exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding document in a ceremony held at Shimla. The MoU records mutual intent for academic and research collaboration between the University of Jammu and the HAWS for academic/technical advancement and progression of Army personnel and the students/ faculty members of University of Jammu, specifically in the disciplines of High Altitude Studies and Disaster Management in the mountainous regions. Prof Manoj Dhar said that this MOU will go a long way to cement relationship between the Indian Army and the University of Jammu and hoped that the cooperation between the two premier institutions of the Country will continue to grow. While speaking on the occasion Lt General Thimayya said that the Indian Army shall facilitate researchers, faculties and students of the University of Jammu, working in such fields. He further suggested that the University should start a few technological driven skill courses for the Army Personnel.
The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Lieutenant General G.S.Sangha, AVSM, SM, VSM, Chief of Staff; Prof S K Pandita, Director Disaster Management Centre; Dr Neeraj Sharma, Special Secretary to VC; Major General Atul Kaushik, Commandant HAWS; Major General Atulya Solankey, SM, Major General, General Staff Training; and many senior Army officers from Training Commands.
