Early Times Report
jammu, May 5: Kishtwar District that has witnessed the back to back killings of Parihar brothers and RSS leader, his PSO in a span of five month has not only rattled the confidence of peace loving people of Kishtwar District, but has also bring the situation in communally sensitive District of Chenab valley back to early 90s when people of eeriest while Doda District was reeling under the shadow of militancy and the situation was free for all before the army and BSF took over the challenge to eliminate the militancy from Chenab valley comprises of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban District and it took over two decades to Army, CRPF, BSF and Jammu and Kashmir Police along with Special Operation Group to clean up the area as a result of which Doda and Ramban Districts were declared as militancy free while at the same time only two militants were left in Kishtwar District and both remain confined to Marwah and Dachhan areas and remain into hibernation since long before the new group of militants emerged in Kishtwar District and first manage to kill BJP State Secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar under the darkness in the heart of Kishtwar town on 1-11-2018 followed by the killing of RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma and his PSO on 9-4-2019 inside District Hospital Kishtwar, this time in broad day light and much closer to Police Station Kishtwar and like previous occasion, the militants involved behind these killings also vanished in thin air leaving the security system jammed.
The killings of Parihar brothers followed by the killing of top RSS leader has resulted into smearing anger among the people of Kishtwar and the demands for giving exemplary punishment to killers has been started echoing from all quarters-and the demands for justice grows louder and louder with each passing day due to constant failure of the police and National Investigating Agency to apprehend the culprits involved behind the killings of Parihar brothers and RSS leader, his PSO.
As people took law into their own hands by ransacking Hospital, Police Post Kuleed, SSP Office Kishtwar followed by DC Office complex Kishtwar after the security agencies dealing with the militancy fail to arrest the culprits and were demanding handing over of Kishtwar District to army so that the people of Kishtwar feel sense of security.
As the pressure grows on police and administration, the installation of bunkers and Nakkas started and around two dozen Nakkas and bunkers were so far installed at various places across Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas including at all the entry and exit points leading to Kishtwar town.
Beside installation of Nakkas and bunkers, the Special Operation Group (SOG) has also been constituted and infamous encounter specialist cop Shiv Krishan Sharma according to the sources has been assigned the job to handle the counter militancy grid in Kishtwar District while more efforts are being done to boost the morale of people who started losing their confidence on Kishtwar police and administration.
The police and security agencies has also laid much stress on strengthening the intelligence network which was earlier smashed during the tenure of BJP government wherein the officials posted in intelligence units were transferred to accommodate blue eyed police officials who work for the party during the elections.
The killing of Parihar brothers and RSS leader has taken Kishtwar District 26 year back when militancy first struck Kishtwar town on 10-5-1993 when the militants killed RSS leader Satish Bhandari in Gudhali Chowk Kishtwar following which communal clashes and riots took place in the District resulted into the killings of at least two people while shops, houses belonging to both communities were reduce to ashes.
After the killing of Satish Bhandari, Chenab valley witness several massacre including Kulihand, Chapnari, Hasti, Barshala, Cherji, Padder while at the same time the killing of Ghulam Rasool Hajam, Tanveer Ahmed Mir, Ghulam Mohammad Lone and many similar killings targeting the nationalist people has been witnessed in Kishtwar District during all these 26 years.
With 10th May being celebrated as martyred day in Kishtwar District approaching fast, the BJP and Santhan Dharam Sabha has put pressure on Government, Police and administration to fulfill the demand of handing over of Kishtwar District to army.
