Early Times Report
Jammu, May 8: An employee of the National Health Mission (NHM) working in Doda is pursuing her two-year Junior Staff Nurse (JSN) course from a paramedical institute in Jammu and simultaneously withdrawing her salaries from the state exchequer, in violation of the service rules.
Sources told the "Early Times" that the Female Multi Purpose Health Worker (FMPHW) from Ghat block is working under NHM since 2010 and has got herself admitted for JSN course for 2018-19 as a regular student in one of the most reputed government affiliated paramedical institutes of Jammu.
The sources said that there are many similar cases from different parts of the state where government employees are unauthorizedly pursuing higher education but are drawing regular salaries with the active support of DDOs, or in certain cases, the employees kept the DDOs under dark.
The sources said that there are several posts of JSN vacant in the Health department, as a result of which some of the FMPHWs are desperate to pursue the degree by getting themselves enrolled in various paramedical colleges. But at the same time they continue with their service under NHM as the same did not provide opportunity to these adhoc based employees to apply for higher qualification. With the result, these employees prefer backdoor degrees as JSN has higher grade pay as compare to FMHPW.
The sources called upon the concern authorities to look into the issue by taking stern action against these employees beside also initiating recovery of the salaries paid to them by the government.
