NCC cadets of GGM Science College visit adopted village

Jammu, May 9: 35 NCC Girl Cadets (Senior Wing) of GGM Science College of 2 J&K Girls Bn NCC along with the students of BCA from the Department of Computer Science of the college today visited the High School at the adopted village Akalpur, block Marh, under the guidance of Associate NCC officer Dr. (Capt.) Anjana Sharma and Administrative Officer Major Chhaya Korwal of 2nd J& K Girls Bn NCC. The main motive of the visit was to spread awareness among the students specially the girl students regarding the menstrual health, hygiene and sanitation and other social issues like "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao", Swatch Bharat, etc. The cadets and the students were motivated by the Principal of the college Dr. S.P. Sarswat to work on this noble cause in order to help the students of the school. The group was accompanied by the chairperson Monika Mitter and members of NGO- ARADHANA - a ray of hope. The NGO organized a hygiene workshop to cover the sensitive issue of menstrual hygiene and sanitation. The objective of the workshop was to spread awareness regarding menstrual health and hygiene, nutrition and myths related to menstruation etc. The NCC cadets and students presented a cultural bouquet of various items like dance and singing etc.
