| Governor shocked, directs for fast track investigation | | |  Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 13: Governor Satya Pal Malik and Advisor Vijay Kumar on Monday directed the special investigation team to complete the investigation of Bandipora rape case on fast track basis so that the culprit is brought to justice.
He directed the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and IG Police to personally monitor the investigation.
Separate inquiry has also been ordered to check veracity of the age of accused and ascertain the veracity of age certificate issued.
Requesting the general public to maintain peace and mutual brotherhood, the Governor has assured the general public that the administration is taking each and every step for maintaining public order and anybody having any grievance or any apprehension shall contact the Police Control Room or Divisional Commissioner Kashmir's office.
Meanwhile, the Governor has appealed the people not to pay any heed to rumors and has said rumor mongers will be dealt strictly as per law.
Earlier, Governor Malik expressed deep shock and pain over the extremely heinous rape incident.
A Raj Bhavan spokesman said that on learning about the unfortunate incident, Governor immediately spoke to SP Pani, IGP Kashmir and took detailed review of the ongoing investigations into the case. He directed the IGP to work swiftly in the case and ensure that the culprit gets exemplary punishment for this shameful act.
He stated that Governor also talked to religious leaders of different communities and asked them to deplore this gruesome incident unanimously and make appeal to the people to remain calm and not let antisocial elements disturb peace and harmony in the society.
The Governor urged the parents, teachers and prominent citizens to take significant steps to imbibe children with morally sound and value based education so as to build a strong foundation for our society based on compassion and kindness. |
